Sports injuries

Playing sports at any level can result in injury - and we know just how frustrating it can be to encounter an injury which sets you back from your sport or training. We work with you to not only overcome any sports-related injuries you may acquire, but to also strengthen and condition any weaker areas of your body in order to prevent additional or repeat injuries.

Musculoskeletal issues

Musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions are the leading cause of pain and disability in England. MSK conditions affect joints, bones, muscles, fascia, ligaments, tendons, and associated tissues such as nerves. Depending on what, how and to what degree MSK health is affected, it will lead to temporary issues or lifelong impairments

A detailed assessment with our physiotherapist can determine contributing causes or factors to MSK conditions. Following this, we offer treatment plans which may include hands-on therapy such as massage, joint manipulation, fascial stretching; exercise rehabilitation; postural correction and more.

  • Who is exercise rehabilitation for?
Exercise rehabilitation and rehabilitation training is for those who want to gain more independence at home, recover from the effects of a short or long-term illness or injury, or those who wish to move well with confidence and ease. We recommend exercise rehabilitation particularly for those who are house-bound, chair-bound, or bed-bound.
  • What conditions can you treat with exercise rehabilitation?
We treat the effects of musculoskeletal conditions such as soft tissue injuries and post-op orthopaedic conditions; neurological conditions including strokes, brain injuries, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis; cardiorespiratory conditions such as heart failure, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), and post-op heart surgery. Exercise rehabilitation is also beneficial for those who are struggling with frailty and general deconditioning due to health-conditions and/or aging.
  • How does rehabilitation training differ from personal training?
Our experienced team includes a registered physiotherapist as well as a sport and exercise physiologist. Cumulatively we have an extensive understanding and specialised knowledge about how various musculoskeletal and neurological illnesses and injuries limit and impact the body, and how functional exercises can impact and support your recovery. Our team work together to create training plans and exercises that aim to help you achieve your goals - from performing simple day-to-day activities, improving mobility where needed, and gaining confidence in your movement.
  • Why choose Abbey Mobile Physio?
We pride ourselves on our expertise, personalised care, and accessibility. You will be initially assessed by a registered physiotherapist, as well as receive one-to-one exercise rehabilitation training with an experienced sport physiologist. Based on your own specific goals, we will provide you with a bespoke care plan for your treatment, which will include safe exercised for you to practise at home independently as well as supervised or assisted exercises you'll be able to complete with your trainer. Being a mobile physiotherapy service, our treatment is accessible to anyone and everyone as we meet you where you are most comfortable - at home.

Testimonials

"I am incredibly grateful to Ben for the vast improvements in pain and mobility I have experienced, and for restoring my hope of recovering from a chronic back condition. His home visits have not only enabled me to access treatment but having ongoing, weekly sessions is a world away from NHS provision."

MELISSA

"I’ve had three appointments with Ben, and he’s made a big difference in reducing my long standing back pain, using a variety of manipulation, massage and needling techniques I’ve worked with a lot of different physics/osteopaths over the last ten years, and I’d highly recommend him. The added bonus is he comes to you!"
