BENJAMIN SHUM
Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist
Neurological Physiotherapist
HCPC registered (PH116201)
Chartered Physiotherapist (MCSP 105216)

Born and raised in Adelaide, Australia, he finds the winters cold but the summers more tolerable here in Abingdon!

He graduated in 2012 in Physiotherapy from the University of South Australia particularly renowned for Geoffrey Maitland's treatment techniques and David Butler's game-changing pain science research.
After graduating, Ben moved to Hong Kong and worked in a musculoskeletal physiotherapy clinic for 6 years. While in Hong Kong he completed a Diploma in Acupuncture at Hong Kong University Space, where he gained knowledge in Traditional Chinese Medicine's philosophy and concepts.

In 2018 Ben moved to Abingdon where he progressed in neurological physiotherapy experience. He worked at the private Manor hospital, along with working in neurological and elderly rehabilitation at the NHS Abingdon Hospital. When the covid pandemic struck, Ben shifted to working in NHS domiciliary care helping with early discharges from the Oxford hospitals. This involved much community in-home physiotherapy work and planted the seeds for him to start a private in-home-only physiotherapy service.

Since 2022 with Abbey Mobile Physio, Ben has helped people through both musculoskeletal physio and neurological physio. Professionally, his treatment focuses on a hands-on approach both in his musculoskeletal and neurological physiotherapy. Click here on his blog to find more information about how he works.

Ben is a passionate and hard-working person who enjoys sports, with a particular liking for running and rock climbing.

He is a people person and a community-builder whose daily motto is to help others.

OUR ADMINISTRATOR
FANNY SHUM

I’m Fanny. It isn’t short for anything, it’s just French. I grew up in Belgium, Brussels.

I have a Bachelor in Journalism and Communications, and a Masters in Events Management.

I am currently a full-time mum to our two sons, and a part-time administrator and website designer for our other baby, Abbey Mobile Physio.

I have worked in education in Hong Kong and in Hospitality in Oxford. I would say my expertise lies in communications, and in designing events and managing them from beginning to end. Without me, Abbey Mobile Physio would probably lack its organisation and attention to details.
I love people and I get energy from being sociable. Like Christopher McCandless wrote “Happiness is only real when shared.” I have the privilege of sharing my life with my best friend and I am very proud of the many things we have and will accomplish together.
